Nissan Vehicle Service Warning Indicators

Vehicles today are equipped with many service warning indicators. These lights and notifications can appear on your car's instrumental panel or a car's infotainment system. Nissan of McKinney has put together a list of 10 service indicators you should know.

Airbag Fault

Airbag Fault

This light reveals that the airbag system in your car could have an issue. The airbag fault could mean that your vehicle’s airbag won’t deploy when necessary or there is an interference with the SRS (supplemental restraint system). You should bring your vehicle to our service center for inspection.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light

Low Fuel Level Warning Light

Your car is running very low on fuel, and you should refuel at the first opportunity. Driving with a low fuel level can create added stress on your fuel pump, possibly causing it to fail.

Oil Pressure Warning Light

Oil Pressure Warning Light

When your car loses oil pressure, a service indicator will appear. This indicator light can mean that the oil level in your vehicle is low. It can also indicate more serious issues. Check the oil level. If the level is okay, bring your car in for professional assistance.

Service Vehicle Soon

Service Vehicle Soon

This indicator light is perhaps the most common of all service indicator lights. It is a reminder that your oil needs to be changed. In some cases, it also indicates that tire rotation is due. The light is reset when your maintenance is performed, and it will appear again after approximately 5,000 miles.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

Some vehicles today are equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system. This indicator is letting you know that one or more of your tires need to be inflated. If the light does not go off after you have put air in the car's tires, the system could be malfunctioning. This can also be indicated by a light that blinks for one minute and then remains on.

Slip Indicator

Slip Indicator

This indicator reveals that your car's tires are losing traction on the road. It is an indicator that is offered on vehicles with a Vehicle Stability Control or Traction Control feature. When the light appears, it indicates that the VSC or TRAC feature has been engaged. The light should not stay on. If it does, there is a problem with the system.

Charging System Warning Light

Charging System Warning Light

The battery on your car is not charging correctly. This warning can be due to an issue with your alternator. It can also indicate that a fan belt or other belt has broken. It is recommended that you stop the car as soon as possible and seek assistance.

Brake System

Brake System

There is a problem with your ABS braking system. The light does not necessarily mean that you are going to lose the car's brakes. It is a warning that a braking issue exists, and you should bring the car to a service center.

Open Door Warning Light

Open Door Warning Light

A door on your car is not closed. The light can also indicate that the trunk is not closed. Check all doors and the trunk in your car.

Coolant Level Warning

Coolant Level Warning

The coolant in your car is low. This is a matter that requires immediate attention. Stop the car and allow it to cool before refilling the coolant in the vehicle's radiator.
