What's New for the 2018 Nissan Versa?

Two major changes have been brought to the Nissan Versa lineup in 2018. First, the SL trim has been done away with, making the SV package the highest option. Second, the Versa has a new color option called Deep Blue Pearl which is a glossy deep blue.

2018 Versa Trims & Features

• Versa S
  The base trim for the 2018 Versa is the Versa S which comes with 15-inch steel rims, which are used across all packages except the SV Special Edition. The interior of the vehicle is outfitted with a four-speaker sound system that boasts Bluetooth connectivity and is lined with cloth upholstery.
    
• Versa S Plus
  Moving up through the trims is the S Plus which adds several exterior modifications such as chrome door handles, a rear spoiler and air deflectors. The S Plus package also adds cruise control to the vehicle.
    
• Versa SV
  The Versa SV adds substantial improvements including keyless entry, folding rear seats, a USB port, and an improved instrument cluster.
    
• Versa SV Special Edition
  The optional upgrade to the SV trim is called the SV Special Edition and is the highest tier available in the 2018 Versa. The special edition not only features a badge on that says "Special Edition" but also improves the wheels to 15-inch alloy ones, puts leather on the steering wheel, and adds fog lights to the vehicle. This trim option also adds a backup camera that displays on the 5-inch screen on the dashboard.

2018 Nissan Versa Horsepower

The Nissan Versa comes with a 1.6-liter inline 4 that can push out 109 horsepower with 107 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or Nissan continuously variable transmission. With the manual transmission, the vehicle is EPA rated to get 27 miles to the gallon in the city or 36 on the highway. The continuously variable transmission offers a smoother ride in addition to better fuel economy with 31 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.

Nissan Versa Safety

So far the 2018 Nissan Versa has undergone three of the tests from the Insurance Institue for Highway Safety. The tests were side impact, roof strength, and head restraints and seats. In all of these categories, the vehicle received a rating of "good", which is the highest rating the IIHS gives on these tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the vehicle a four-star safety rating out of five. The Nissan Versa does not have any driver assistive technologies built in such as collision avoidance, which means the vehicle is easier to safety test and the full IIHS safety review should be available soon.
