The 2016 Nissan Altima was awarded a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The Altima is one of many new Nissan cars to be honored with the distinction, including the 2016 Maxima and 2016 Murano. The Altima scored a top rating of “Good” in all five of the Institute crash tests and earned a “Superior” rating for its front crash prevention system, which is required for the “plus” designation.
"Nissan is very proud to have our best-selling vehicle recognized by IIHS for excellence in vehicle safety," said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Strategy and Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). "Like the new Maxima and Murano, Altima sets high standards in a very competitive class for styling, performance and value as well as safety. We at Nissan are gratified to see that another of our core models has been recognized for excellent design and vehicle safety."
Advanced safety features available on the all-new 2016 Nissan Altima include blind spot warning, forward emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, the aforementioned predictive forward collision warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
